Biography
Kyungmin Park is a Berlin-based conductor with a strong artistic focus on symphonic music, opera, and contemporary repertoire. From the 2025/26 season, he is appointed Assistant Conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch National Opera, where he is engaged in major operatic and orchestral productions and works alongside internationally renowned artists.
His recent conducting engagements include performances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, featuring works such as Bohuslav Martinů’s Concerto for Oboe, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. He has been actively involved in contemporary and operatic projects, including György Ligeti’s Aventures at BKA Theater Berlin as part of the Unerhörte Musik series, and Udo Zimmermann’s opera Weiße Rose in a production at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin.
Kyungmin Park has also collaborated with the Deutsche Oper Berlin – Tischlerei, conducting the world premiere of DiFaced by composer Sina Sani Fani. In 2023, he served as assistant to Christoph Eschenbach in performances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, further shaping his orchestral and collaborative experience.
He was a finalist at the 58th Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors, one of the most prestigious competitions in the field, marking an important milestone in his emerging international career.
Kyungmin Park completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin (2017–2024), studying with Prof. Alexander Vitlin, Prof. Christian Ehwald and Prof. Markus Stenz. His artistic development has been enriched through masterclasses with distinguished conductors including Alan Gilbert, Markus Stenz, Cristian Măcelaru, Sir Donald Runnicles, and Heejun Choi.
He is particularly interested in combining classical repertoire with contemporary works, valuing clarity of gesture, structural depth, and close collaboration with musicians.
